I started as a new agent at a big-box brokerage. No real support, monthly fees whether I closed anything or not, and a whole business to figure out through trial and error — most of it painful.
I kept a mental list the whole time: everything I needed and didn't have. Real leads instead of ones I had to buy myself. Training from someone actually doing the work, not a slide deck. A media team instead of hiring a photographer out of pocket every time. Technology built for how the job actually works, instead of software rented from a vendor who has no idea what a Tuesday looks like for an agent.
In October 2021, I started Foraker Realty Co. with five agents. Today there are 85 of us, working across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.
Everything on that mental list from my first year is something an agent here gets on day one, for zero monthly fees. Not eventually — day one.
The part I care about most: I'm not in a corporate tower somewhere. I live in West Grove. If something needs to change — for one agent or for the whole company — I can make that call today, on the phone, without a franchise committee weighing in. I built it that way on purpose.
I don't look at this as a brokerage that recruits agents. I look at it as building the shortcut I wish someone had handed me. If you're doing the trial-and-error thing right now the way I did, that's the entire reason this exists.
